(The one with the engagement party.)

Hit play, read, and enjoy.

Yesterday, July 9th was our engagement party! On Friday my mom and i met up with nicks' mom and got all the food and decorations and prepped the house.

I struggled keeping the balloons untangled due to the wind.

Most of the day went smooth, then towards the ending we were forgetting little things like frames, and mayo. But the 3 of us were very motivated and got it all done in a timely manner..

We of course had to take a break for lunch :) So we went to Baker Square

Then it was back to work prepping the food.

Got home about 730 and ate an ice cream sandwich with my dad and watched resevoir dogs...and by saying watched i mean- we both fell asleep.

On Friday me and mom got up earlier and i treated her to a pedicure for all the hard work she has put into the party- and i got a manicure. Which i chipped 4 hours later while setting up tables. :(

Driving to the party- a little nervous, but mostly excited. It is a lot of work to introduce people, and remember how one is related to the other.
It was almost a test of how well i knew Nick's family. But we did great and he was right there with me the whole time; which is the most comforting feeling. I don't get nervous in situations like that if he is around.

Trying to figure out the best method to get the table clothes on...it was so windy. How many people does it take to cover a table?

We had a slight set back...if a box says beef patties on it, most people would assume its a hamburger. Well, after grilling up these beef patties, they were still very white, and the texture was horrible. Upon reading the ingredients; {beef heart, soy, vegetable filler etc} thankfully it was still 15 min. till the party was going to start so nicks' mom and aunt ran to the store and bought 75 more hamburger patties. Real ones this time.

live and learn right?

Delicious cake that Sue got for us :) It all got eaten. YUM!

It was a wonderful day of enjoying food, one anothers' company and yard games...what more could you ask for on a saturday? The house work will always be there, the laundry can get done on sunday, and the dishes won't break if they aren't washed within 24 hours. Put it all on hold. And enjoy simple things.

Starting to clean up..

It was such a beautiful day. Laughter, tears of joy, and celebrating with my family. I feel like i'm about to burst from happiness. And the thing is- it was beautiful, not perfect. Nick and I had matching pimples on our noses, the centerpiece flowers died from the heat, we ran out of hot dogs and plates, and i had a headache from squinting in the sun and smiling.

It is a day that i will never forget.

Opening gifts at the end of the evening.

Nick and I are so thankful that we have such loving families and friends and that they support us. That is truly the greatest gift I could ever receive.
