applying for happily ever after

"Applying" for a marriage license is weird.

You need to confirm that-
1. one is a man, one is a woman
2.  we aren't related by blood or adoption

and a bunch of other things I did not know was on this. Technically they could not "approve" our application.
^^signing his life away ;)
It is just so bizarre to me that i have to get the governments permission to get married in my church.

Why not apply for baptism? Or apply for being allowed to have children?

I guess so we don't interbreed and screw up our DNA or genes or i really don't understand. Maybe its more on the financial side to see if we can get benefits. . . who knows. Anyways- we've applied! Fingers crossed we get approved and get a marriage license

xxo. Have a great friday!

Ms Monroe

I just finished watching "My Week with Marilyn" The film takes place in 1956 when she was married to the famous Arthur Miller. She was casted to act in a movie in London. Where she meets Clark Colins, the 3rd director assistant on set.

This movie is written from his perspective and the intimate moments and slight affair he had with Ms. Marilyn.

I couldn't help but feel nauseated the entire movie. Her beauty and stardom really amounted to nothing for her. She was quite insecure, sad, and deep down i think was quite empty.

She had married 3 times by the age of 30.

For some reason I couldn't help but feel bad for Clark Colins how helplessly he fell for her beauty and kindness, but of course in the end fell broken hearted.

I would recommend this movie. It of course is just that, a movie, "based" on a true story of Clark Colins time with Marilyn. So you must take it for what it is. But I felt that it portrayed her character fairly precisely. It showed in the movie her insecurities, her loneliness, and of course her drug issues.

It makes me dumbfounded that a woman like this is STILL so iconic in today's society.

Multiple affairs and drug addiction...

Despite her beauty and the way she light up a stage or screen, I can't help but feel sad for her.

I love Marilyn Monroe as much as the next girl, but sometimes a person isn't what they seem. Her natural talent, her go lucky attitude. And of course many of her famous quotes are still recognized today.

"“A wise girl kisses but doesn't love, listens but doesn't believe, and leaves before she is left.”

“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”

How divine it would have been to live during the 50's. Everything about this film, the outfits, the music, the language, Marilyn. .. . its all so beautiful.

Have any of you seen it? What did you think? Thoughts on Marilyn Monroe?

Greasy Situation

I have been back home with my family for the past week. . .. seeing as that my wedding is 6 weeks away i wanted to spend some time back in my home town.

Friday afternoon my brother and I saw a movie. Saturday my dad worked until 10 am and then wanted to change is oil, and afterwards we were going to go get him fitted for his tuxedo.

Lets just say, what was suppose to take 20 minutes ended up taking 2 hours.

^^ the oil filter was on SO tight that no tool would work to get it off. My dad ended up having to go back to work to get some chain tool and then hit it with a hammer for leverage. We first searched my grandpa's garage, but it was hard to find things due to all the stuff and hundreds of tools.

 ^^ grandpa's garage

Now this doesn't sound all that terrible except literally he could not get it off for over an hour. And was getting quite frustrated. As was I, since i had tried to doll myself up that morning and was now drenched in sweat and had frizzy hair due to the heat and humidity.

Filter FINALLY comes off, put the new one on, and put in the oil. I was locking up the house and as i was walking back toward my dad as he was backing the car off the ramps. . .. . i see all the oil spewing out of the bottom of the Jeep. So i start running and yelling, thinking he forgot to put the cap back on. But low and behold the idiots at Napa gave him the wrong size oil filter.
We lost all the oil. So up to Napa we ran, had to buy a new filter and more oil. Anyways long story short, we both were losing our patience.

I just felt bad for my dad since he has had 3 surgeries with in the last 6 months. He wears an abdomen binder still due to his hernia surgeries, and when he was trying to get the filter off i was so nervous he was gonna hurt himself. And on top of that he had his ankle joint fused together . . which i guess  walking with a limp is better than being unable to walk. But while he was under the car I was saying prayers that it wouldn't fall down or start rolling, since my dad is not as agile as he once was
I sometimes wish he wasn't so stubborn and would just start letting a car place change his oil. But he still loves to be hands on and doesn't ask for help. I guess I admire that about him, but as a nurse and his daughter i hate seeing him in pain, frustrated, and limping.

Despite the oil change set back, we had an awesome day at the mall, chatted over drinks at Buffalo Wild Wings and had a relaxing night of television watching. Oh, and nibbling on my moms homemade banana bread.

Nothing like a Saturday in Minnesota.

It feels good to be home.

July 2012 Vanity Fair : Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart's shoot for the July issue of Vanity Fair was absolutely captivating to me. After watching the behind the scenes footage I was mesmerized at her sort of elegance, yet a little rough around the edges. The fact that she can be very versatile with her photo shoot environments & wardrobes says a lot about her as a model. I won't mention my thoughts on her acting.

I am dumbfounded how models can be so calm and confident in front of amazing photographers such as Mario Testino. An amazing photographer can make even the worst of models look magnificent. So when you combined a beautiful talented photographer, with a beautiful talented model- the results are impeccable.

Isn't she just divine? I think I have a slight touch of obsession with this lovely lady.

On another note last week I went and saw Snow White and the Huntsmen - it was artistically filmed and the dynamic of the movie was breathtaking. Kristen Stewart was a stunning actress for the part of Snow White. I would highly recommend it.

Little Things

For the fourth of July I made Nick this patriotic breakfast in bed.

Sometimes its the little things you do for someone that means so much. I've recently been noticing that more, like if he does the dishes, or runs to the store to get me aloe vera, even when he opens my car door for me.

Grand gestures are great. . . . . . but the little things are better. I encourage you to look for the little things through out the day that make you happy. (a smile from a stranger, a text from your best friend, a voice mail from your mom etc.)

Nick and I are having a date night in the new apartment tonight, and tomorrow will be heading up to celebrate the fourth with his family. (maybe catch some fireworks)
