7/52: Girl Scout Cookies

This week Nick was out of town a few days for a business trip.

I have been under the weather.

So we ordered some delicious girl scout cookies from one of my co-workers as our dessert this week.

Tagalongs
Thin Mints
Savannah Smiles

Its so hard to decide which ones to get, they are all so good!

Which girl scout cookie is your favorite?

Two Perfect

Going on dates with my husband is the best.

Good conversation.

Good food.

Good laughs.

Our family of 2 is just perfect.

We enjoy having this time together.

We dream of having a dog, but are terrified of the commitment (neither of us have ever had a pet, even growing up)

We are traveling to California again next month, and are just beyond excited.

Doesn't matter where you are. . . it matters who you are with.

Food Lately

Nick and I tried making this dish French Onion Casserole- Since this winter I have been obsessed with french onion soup.

If you follow me on pintrest I have the recipe pinned on my dinner board. This was so delicious creamy, salty, cheesy, bread filled meal. We all really enjoyed it.

Oh and if you don't know... I work straight night shifts. So the cafeteria is open for us between 2 and 4 am. All my co-workers talk about how amazing the omelets and hash browns are. So I finally gave in and order it.

They weren't kidding! Just what i needed at 3 am to get me through the rest of the morning. The serving size of hash browns was at least 2 pounds.

We got more snow. .  so my body is back in the hibernation mood of eating and sleeping (and im ok with it)

6/52: Lemon Poppy Muffins

This week Nick picked out the dessert. We finally finished all our puppy chow! So we can't be in the house without a dessert for more than a day.

We enjoyed these as they were warm and melty and coming out of the oven.

Happy Monday!

Only 10 days left of February, in my mind Spring is just around the corner (even though the high on Wednesday is 11 degrees)

5/52 : Puppy Chow

I have to be honest. . . i didn't make this dessert, my mother in-law gave us two whole buckets full.

And I technically had this dessert for last weeks dessert but was so busy i did not have time to post about it.

With just me and nick in the apartment we can never eat all the food we make for meals. Let alone have 2 desserts in a week.

It is crunchy, sweet, and oh so hard to only have a few pieces.

"Last Meal" (i'm dramatic)

Lent is upon us. . a few days ago we made our final trek to McDonald's. As Nick and I are both giving up fast food completely. ALL fast food (subway, taco bell, dominos etc.) This is going to be a huge challenge for us- but one I hope sticks with us even after lent.

You know me. Have to capture ever huge moment in my life. And this "last meal" was one of them.

I apologize for the poor picture quality lately. We have the worst luck and our camera lens has been sticking, not focusing, and not able to zoom- so we had to send it into Nikon last week. . thankfully the repairs are covered by the warranty. I can't wait to get it back in time for spring :)

Are any of you giving up something for Lent? Taking something up?

Valentine's Day

Well the day before Valentine's Day we decided to head to the big apple of MN (minneapolis) to see a band with our friends. Kind of a last minute decision. We officially found the worlds best fish & chips. So i would say our trip was a success. I was lucky enough to get to see my brother for awhile as he stopped by after work.

wine & playing with the cutest english bulldog 'Fred'

Well being the spontaneous newlyweds we are- didn't check the weather report before journeying 80 miles from home. We ended up driving back at midnight in slushy snowfall with slippery roads.

My point of this story is- we both had planned on making the other breakfast in the morning for V-day (that didn't happen) we were so tired haha so we slept in on Valentines day.

Nick had me ride along with him to a far off destination for his work- where we admired the Spam Museum from the outside. Due to the fact that i was in my pajama's and would not get out of the car.

I watched an odd, yet wonderful movie on Netflix called Lars and the Real Girl. (Ryan Gosling is the main actor.) I would recommend this.

Then off we went to see Safe Haven in theaters. - it was spectacular. Jawdropping, romantic, action, just a really good movie. Nick even really liked it (he said it was better then the Notebook) - but i don't know if i agree with that.

Timed it perfectly to hit our 7:30pm reservations at the OutBack Steakhouse- - - ordered WAY too much food.

Tried to help my brother get a hold of my parents as he called and told me his sad valentines day story of getting off work early for the first time, was stranded in a parking ramp after work with a flat tire, and had to wait at a bar for my parents to come find him. (poor guy) * cue violins.

Then I passed out on the couch in a food coma.

It has been a busy week and i work the next 5 days, after being off for 6. Time to get back into the routine.

Happy Valentine's Day!

xxo

ps- nick and I were talking over dinner how weird it felt shopping in the husband/wife section of cards. He said he was next to an old man picking one out and how that would be him in 50 years...unable to read the small print but wanting to pick out the perfect card for me. My husband is such a romantic, and i don't mind :)

N turns 23 !

Today is Nick's birthday and we have had just a great day together. I made him breakfast, his grandma and mom came down for lunch.

I decorated the apartment with a banner and lights. We watched a movie, drove around, did some shopping, bought some wine, got a redbox, and will be sharing drinks later at an underground local jazz bar.

Just wanted to share some pictures from the day.

Happy Birthday to the most kind, patient, goofy husband. I can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays with you.

{i} Butterflies

I am so in love with my husband.
: his dramatic way of singing his words when trying to cheer me up
: his always positive attitude
: how excited he is to be a dad someday
: the way he has to be the last one to say "i love you" when he leaves for work
: his love for eating out, and convincing me its ok to eat fast food 5 times a week
: how secure he is with himself
: that he'll twirl me in public, even if people are staring
: how he still gives me butterflies {i}
: the way he draws me into his world and makes me forget about everybody else

Nick (my almost 23 year old babe), I love you and i'm yours to keep forever.

We've been together almost 3 years, married for 4 months. . . no time with you will be long enough

4/52 : Bourbon Vanilla Cake

Best box cake i've ever made. You can purchase this delicious treat at Trader Joe's

"dessert a week"

Nick made this wonderful  cake, and he did a fantastic job! We haven't even put any frosting on it, that's how good it is.
